Key hurdles hamper adoption of cyber protections, industry experts say

U.S. authorities and the country's private sector are still grappling to cope with evolving cybersecurity threats, according to participants at a Bipartisan Policy Center forum this week. "It's hard to build a business case" for cyberdefense, said former National Security Agency and CIA Director Michael Hayden. "While the set of core practices have been known for years, barriers to adoption exist, such as the challenge of clearly identifying the benefits of making certain cybersecurity investments," said the White House's cybersecurity coordinator, Michael Daniel.
