Lifestyle program provides short-term benefits to obese minority youth

A study in the journal Childhood Obesity found obese minority and inner-city teens who participated in a lifestyle modification program attained improvements in BMI and nutrition at nine months. However, the program's benefits did not continue upon its conclusion, suggesting that greater support is needed to help obese minority youth keep the pounds off, researchers said.
