Navy decision not to repair USS Miami is significant, lawmaker says

Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., says the Navy’s decision to scuttle one of its nuclear-powered submarines rather than repair it demonstrates the severity of sequestration. "We are currently facing a self-inflicted readiness crisis, with sequestration forcing maintenance deferrals and, in the case of the [USS] Miami, the inactivation of a vital naval asset," Forbes said.
