N.C. businesses provide students STEM work opportunities

Through the Durham YouthWork Internship Program in North Carolina, high-school students are taking what they've learned in the classroom and applying it to real-world job assignments, such as those offered by Sensus, a company that provides smart electric, water and natural gas meters. Dan Pinney, Sensus' director of engineering for water, gas and street light products, said the program not only inspires students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and math, but also helps build the pool of potential employees for the future.
