Survey finds more people are knowledgeable about diabetes

Data presented at the American Association of Diabetes Educators meeting revealed 76% of Hispanics and 86% of blacks in 2011 were aware that diabetes can be prevented, up from 61% and 70%, respectively, in 2008. More survey respondents also were familiar with prediabetes. However, researchers found a slight decline in the number of people who consider diabetes a serious disease.
