Wal-Mart aims to be No. 1 in beer sales

Wal-Mart Stores is looking to become the world's largest beer retailer and has set a goal of doubling alcohol sales by 2016, says Cameron Smith, president of an executive-search firm that works with the retailer's suppliers. The company is promoting sales by increasing large displays and discounts. The move comes after Wal-Mart saw an opportunity to gain a greater share of the beer market, a spokeswoman says.
