Scientist: Adult stem cell supporters overstate case

A medical researcher who supports embryonic stem cell research says those who promote limiting the research to adult stem cells are overstating adult-cell benefits. The head of the Stowers Institute for Medical Research and colleagues wrote in the journal Science that adult stem cell supporters are claiming more than 65 illnesses can be treated by adult and cord blood cells whereas only nine diseases have approved treatments.
