Food coalition seeks more Brazilian sugar imports

The Sugar Policy Alliance, a coalition of food companies such as General Mills, Kraft Foods and ConAgra Foods, is urging U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to allow more sugar imports from Brazil. The letter from the group, which also includes Mars, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Hershey, comes as sugar prices have risen and inventories have dropped to a 34-year low.
