AAR supports freight rail infrastructure tax credits

A bill providing tax incentives to railroads offers major benefits to the public, encouraging investments in the nation's infrastructure, according to the Association of American Railroads. The bipartisan Freight Rail Infrastructure Capacity Expansion Act of 2010 offers two key incentives: a 25% tax credit for capacity expansion expenditures and the ability to expense certain rail infrastructure capital costs. "This bill offers incentives for our highly capital-intensive business, and will ensure freight rail can continue to meet these expectations," said AAR President Edward Hamberger.
