Competition for India's sweet tooth heats up

Hershey, Kraft, Lotte and other confectioners are locked in a fierce battle for the urban and rural markets in India, where about 70 new products were launched last year. The rivalry is forcing down prices, but executives see the market as still largely untapped: Per capita consumption is just 54 grams of confectionery, compared with average 11 kilograms in Europe.
