Engineers go to work in Chinese disaster zone

Engineers are working to clear debris blocking a river in western China, following flooding and mudslides that left at least 127 people dead and nearly 1,300 people missing. Using excavators and high explosives, workers from the People's Liberation Army are seeking to drain a lake that was formed by the blockage, the spillage from which caused huge waves that devastated apartment buildings and houses in the valley below.
