Gevo plans to take over Minn. ethanol plant, produce isobutanol

Gevo has struck a deal to purchase the Agri-Energy ethanol plant in Luverne, Minn., and use it to produce isobutanol no later than the first quarter of 2012. Once the takeover is complete, the facility will continue to make ethanol while Gevo phases in equipment for isobutanol production. "We expect the facility will be the first among many and want it to be a model project for the future," said Gevo CEO Patrick Gruber.
