Pet shelters nationwide are being overrun with rabbits this summer as owners dump unwanted Easter gifts. The increase in the number of unwanted rabbits isn't unusual for the summer -- that's when the novelty of having them as pets usually wears off, experts say. APPA estimates that rabbits are the pet of choice for 2% of households, according to this article.
