A BP internal audit seven months before the Gulf of Mexico spill indicated that Transocean's Deepwater Horizon rig failed to comply with safety standards, according to a newspaper report. BP auditors discovered that the rig had 390 maintenance assignments that were more than one month behind schedule, according to the report.
