Fed officials might bolster their commitment to stimulus

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and other central bank officials are considering using different policy tools to bolster the economic recovery, after two rounds of quantitative easing failed to create the desired effect. "The odds of more dramatic action are higher," said Vincent Reinhart, a former chief monetary-policy strategist at the central bank. "However, they might not want to be seen as responding so directly to equity prices."
