Germany says size of rescue fund will stay the same

Germany dashed hopes that the European Financial Stability Facility would be increased as a way to contain the sovereign-debt crisis. Christoph Steegmans, a spokesman for German Chancellor Angela Merkel, said the facility will remain as agreed upon at a recent EU summit. "The EFSF will remain what it is and keep the volume it had before 21 July," Steegmans said.
