London's burning; is social media to blame?

Rioting in London apparently has been coordinated by teams of thugs using not Twitter and Facebook but rather BlackBerry's instant-messaging service. Some social media users pushed back by using Facebook pages and Twitter accounts to organize cleanup sessions. "[T]echnology didn't cause anything here. It just made some things a little easier. Isn't that what it was always supposed to be for?" Chris Matyszczyk writes.
