Norton, Humana say providers can benefit from their ACO leg work

Norton Healthcare and Humana in Louisville, Ky., found that a shared philosophy helped them form one of the first commercial accountable care organizations, and as part of a pilot program studying the new model they found it has reduced costs, lengths of stay and readmissions for joint replacement patients. The companies say that they have been working on their relationship for years and that other companies can benefit from that experience by using the ACO model they have created.
