N.Y. official recommends drilling fund for fracking cleanup

New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli put forward a proposal to create a fund that would be used for the cleanup of hydraulic fracturing operations. The fund would have to be formed through legislation and would be maintained through fees from natural gas drillers. The amount of fees to be collected from drillers has yet to be specified, but the state's Department of Environmental Conservation is expected to decide on the matter.
