To bolster business continuity, look to social media, PwC says

Businesses are overlooking the potential benefits of social media in their business continuity strategies, according to a new report from PricewaterhouseCoopers that recommends companies gauge the usefulness of sites such as Facebook and Twitter for crisis identification, internal and external communications, and recovery coordination efforts. "We're telling our clients that they must first look through their crisis communication plan for ways to use social media as an effective communication channel to employees, key third parties, customers and stakeholders," said PwC's Phil Samson.
