Infographic: iPhone manufacturing shows U.S.' place in the global supply chain

Apple sold around 70 million iPhone units worldwide in 2011, but none of these were assembled in the U.S., according to this infographic. In fact, figures show that 85% of these units were assembled in China, while the rest were manufactured in other parts of the world. Fast labor, availability of materials and necessary infrastructure prompted Apple to outsource much of iPhone's manufacturing jobs to other countries, according to this infographic.
