Pa. teachers, NBCT honored for innovations, teach without textbooks

National Board Certified Teacher Jackie Karenbauer, in Pennsylvania, and Jennifer DiPasquale for the fifth year are teaching biology without textbooks -- instead taking a flexible approach of using iPads, digital resources and student-generated videos in classroom instruction. The pair -- along with Mark Buccilli, a special-education instructor who focuses on organization and reading skills -- recently received the Carnegie Science Award from the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh for their approaches to instruction.
