Commentary: Wal-Mart image makeover needs work

Wal-Mart Stores recently said it wants to change its image to compete against Target for upscale shoppers. Recent ads for back-to-school items feature children in vignettes, instead of in-store displays touting low prices, but the attempts fall flat and the retailer will have to make bigger changes or return to its roots, this columnist writes.
