Fed is expected to focus on commercial real estate issues at meeting

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is expected to focus on the collapse of commercial real estate when the central bank meets this week. The real estate downturn has prevented the Fed from declaring that financial markets and the economy have healed. The Federal Open Market Committee will meet Tuesday and Wednesday; lawmakers are calling for the central bank to extend aid to the commercial real estate sector.
