Feds to look into acid release at ExxonMobil refinery in Illinois

The Chemical Safety Board will investigate a release of hydrofluoric acid at ExxonMobil's refinery in Joliet, Ill., last week. An employee was critically injured. A propane leak on the refinery's alkylation unit apparently led to the incident. "Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing," ExxonMobil spokesman Kevin Allexon said.
