German researchers build 3-D structures out of DNA

Researchers at the Laboratory for Biomolecular Nanotechnology at Technical University Munich in Germany hope that the gears, curved tubes and wire frames they have built from bundles of double-helix DNA strands can be assembled into medical devices. Hendrik Dietz, head of the laboratory, said DNA can be made to assemble itself into a programmed design.
