Minnesota sues contractor, designer for bridge payouts

Minnesota wants a design firm and construction contractor to reimburse it for the $37 million paid to victims of the August 2007 collapse of the I-35W bridge in the Twin Cities. However, Jacobs Engineering Group and Progressive Contractors are asking a court to dismiss the state's lawsuit seeking payment. Lawyers for the company say the state paid the $37 million to settle its own liability, and it cannot now claim reimbursement.
