Researchers turn on insulin-making beta cells in mice

A team of European and U.S. researchers has successfully reprogrammed pancreatic cells in diabetic mice into insulin-making beta cells. Scientists hope to learn how to turn on the Pax4 gene in Type 1 diabetics, who now have to give themselves daily insulin injections.
