Secure Flight info requirement takes effect Saturday

Starting this Saturday, Aug. 15, the Transportation Security Administration will require airlines to collect additional information for every passenger booking a new reservation. TSA says the information requirement -- full name, birth date and gender -- will help keep flights safer while reducing the number of "false positive" matches to the federal terrorist watch lists. "By enhancing and streamlining the watch list matching process, the Secure Flight program makes travel safer and easier for millions of Americans," Acting TSA Administrator Gale Rossides said in a statement.
