Department stores explore fast fashion

Some major department stores, including Japan's Matsuzakaya and the US's Sears, have determined that fast-fashion retailers, such as Hennes & Mauritz, Zara and Forever 21, are more successful at drawing traffic, according to Michael Baker, a retail analyst and consultant. The smaller retailers have long been major competitors of the department stores, but now the rivals are joining forces to bolster sales.
