Domestic violence increases risk of pregnancy complications

A study found that women who experienced intimate partner violence during the prenatal period were more than 30 times more likely to suffer pregnancy trauma and placental abruption than pregnant women who didn't encounter partner abuse. The findings highlight the need for screening and intervention for physical or sexual violence among pregnant women, researchers said.
