In the 19th century, Helena, Mont., was dubbed "The Queen of the Rockies," as it was expected to become a major city in the West. With a population of 50,000, Helena may not be the reigning queen, but visitors soon find it to be the queen of their hearts. Particularly in the summer, the Montana wonderland offers a bounty of recreational opportunities.
