New York City Council speaker wants commitment on marriage bill

Openly lesbian New York City Council speaker Christine Quinn urged State Senate Majority Leader John Sampson, a Democrat, to commit to a vote on a marriage-equality bill soon. "I want to hear that, and I also think that in this case it would be strategically helpful to the overall efforts to move the bill forward," Quinn said.
