With 94% of FDA-approved animal drugs lacking generic equivalents, Jennifer Spokes Johansson from Cape Elizabeth, Maine, is starting a program to bring more generic medications into the pet pharmaceutical industry. Generics provide veterinarians with lower-priced drug options, allowing them to "pass these savings along to pet owners so that there are more affordable treatment options for pets," Johansson said.
