United sees higher traffic, stronger revenue trends

United Airlines flights were slightly fuller in July as the company boosted capacity 1.8% to help absorb a 2.1% rise in traffic. Latin American traffic jumped 13.5%, helping to offset a 4.2% decline in North American traffic. United estimates revenue per available seat mile was up 22% to 23% from July 2009, when ticket prices plunged due to the recession.
