Study: Atlantic cod evolves to survive without "survival" genes

Atlantic cod live without a set of genes that scientists previously believed were vital to protecting the species' immune system, according to research from the Scottish Fish Immunology Research Centre. The findings may help scientists improve vaccines to protect farmed cod and other fish from the pathogens that are a major concern for aquaculture facilities and could even point to new avenues of research into human diseases.
