Visa aims to accelerate the move to mobile-phone payments

Visa is planning incentives to encourage retailers to adopt payment systems that use shoppers' mobile phones in an effort to curtail credit card fraud. Crone Consulting estimates that roughly 200,000 of 6 million retailer terminals are equipped to accept payments by mobile phone. Visa's efforts "will speed up adoption of mobile payments by a year," said Rick Oglesby, a senior analyst at Aite Group.
