How to lead like an F-15 squadron commander

It's important that everyone in your organization understands why their contribution matters, and nobody knows that better than Jerry Gandy, a director with U.S. Strategic Command. During his time commanding a squadron of F-15 fighter jets, Gandy ran a program he called "Petting the Eagle," during which he'd take new recruits and other workers on a tour of the base. By letting workers sit in and touch the fighter jets, Gandy says, he helped them connect their day jobs with the vital work being done by the squadron as a whole.
