Industrial Internet a key to preventive maintenance

The industrial Internet is increasingly seen as a way to connect data to people within an industry who can have useful input but might not have had regular access to that data in the past, Roberto Baccani, general manager for engineering at GE Oil & Gas, said in an interview. Then the question becomes what happens. "And here is the other novelty that we are introducing: primarily building advanced models that can be fed with the data in real time to predict the behavior of the assets and to anticipate failures, to avoid unplanned maintenance and to maximize production from those assets," Baccani said.
