Groups ask Congress to investigate FDA's breast implant plan

Consumer advocate groups are asking Congress to examine the Food and Drug Administration's decision to allow silicone gel-filled breast implants' return to the market, claiming the plan violates the agency's own safety standards. The National Organization for Women and other groups also asked the FDA to divulge results of its criminal investigation of silicone gel-filled breast implant manufacturer Mentor in the late 1990s.
