U.S. firms battle for biotech corn approval in Germany

U.S. firms Monsanto and Pioneer appear headed for court in Europe as they seek clearance to cultivate their biotech maize in Germany, a move opposed by some consumer groups. EU officials say the MON 810 corn is legal, and Spain has allowed its planting, but opponents say the issue should be considered by the European Court of Justice.
