Educators learn from students

More than two dozen fifth-graders in the University of Michigan's two-week Elementary Mathematics Laboratory are learning tough math concepts, but they're also helping educators better understand students' struggles with math. College students, educators and researchers observe the students' progress from risers along one side of the room and pore over students' work while the college transmits video of the class -- taught by the university's education dean -- so more researchers can observe as well.
