Fed scrutinizes liquidity of Wall Street banks

Wall Street bankers say the Federal Reserve has requested that they perform a series of tests on their balance sheets to see how a major liquidity shortage or sudden decline in capital markets would affect the banks. Regulators want to ensure that the banks have enough liquidity to withstand various financial disruptions and prevent a Bear Stearns-like meltdown.
