Chu: Alternative energy could reduce dependence on foreign oil

Switching to vehicles that run on next-generation biofuels and electricity could "offload" U.S. dependence on imported oil, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said. While he did not specify when the country might be able to wean itself off foreign oil, Chu expressed optimism about how alternative fuels could help.
