Cruising said to be particularly appealing during downturns

Frosch Travel says that cruising has become a leading vacation choice during the economic downturn because of its value-driven nature. "Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) estimates that 13.2 million travelers took a cruise in 2008, an increase from 12.56 million in 2007," Frosch said. "Survey results from CLIA in April 2009 show that 66.2 percent of travel agents expect 2009 revenues for cruising to equal or exceed revenues for 2008, and they will continue to rise in 2010."
