A change in leadership in the Massachusetts Legislature will affect the future of gambling in the state and lead to wide-ranging debates, observers say. Sen. Karen Spilka leads a joint committee on economic development that is gathering information on gambling proposals. Gambling opponents say they fear that expanding gaming in the state could lead to more gambling addictions, but supporters say the state needs an additional source of revenue.
