Seizures during pregnancy increase risk of premature birth

Taiwan researchers found women who had seizures during pregnancy had significantly higher rates of premature birth, low-birth-weight infants and infants that were small for gestational age. Women with epilepsy who didn't experience a seizure during pregnancy had higher rates of premature birth, but not higher rates for low-birth-weight or small for gestational age infants, compared to women without epilepsy.
