Southwest offers $170 million for Frontier Airlines

Southwest Airlines has raised the bidding considerably for Frontier Airlines by offering $170 million for the Denver-based carrier. Republic Airways Holdings had previously offered $108.8 million. Carlo Bertolini, a representative for Republic, indicated that the airline is not out of the bidding and says he expects the company will be at the bankruptcy court auction later this week.
