32nd anniversary of trans-Atlantic balloon journey

Today marks the 32nd anniversary of the first hot-air balloon crossing over the Atlantic Ocean. On Aug. 11, 1978, three Americans took off from Maine in the Double Eagle II. The balloon landed in a barley field in Miserey, France, marking the first trans-Atlantic crossing in history.
