AVMA offers aid for pets displaced by BP oil spill

The AVMA's charitable arm has teamed with nonprofit Paws to Save Pets to offer help to pets affected by the BP oil spill. Seafood and tourism industry workers in the area took a huge hit, with many forced to give up their animals. Others in reduced circumstances haven't had the money to pay for necessary veterinary care.
